Anti-Insulin
Anti-Insulin is an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against human, bovine and pig insulin human serum or plasma.
Anti-Insulin is an ELISA test for the quantitative determination of IgG antibodies against human, bovine and pig insulin in human serum or plasma.
Type I diabetes mellitus is an autoimmune disease triggered by autoantibodies against pancreatic islet cells and against insulin itself. Autoantibodies against insulin can appear in the prediabetic phase of type I diabetes mellitus or once the condition manifests. These autoantibodies are found in 50 to 70 % of children with diabetes mellitus and 20 to 30 % of affected adults.
In rare cases, insulin-dependent diabetes patients generate antibodies against exogenous insulin. These antibodies can give rise to insulin-resistance and should therefore be controlled regularly when monitoring insulin therapy.
The wells of the Anti-Insulin ELISA from ORGENTEC are coated with a mixture of bovine, pig, and recombinant human insulin.
